• Category: local-install/ – plain upstream AUR package, maintainer a821 (not us). Same pattern as [[icu77]]: a legacy-ICU-version shim, but not one we maintain ourselves (unlike [[icu74]]/icu75/icu76, which genuinely are user-maintained AUR packages).
• No prior /data/INSTALL/icu72 checkout existed – only stale chroot-cache artifacts (/scratch/archcache32, /var/cache/archbuild32) at an older upstream pkgrel (72.1-1.0, an X.Y local-pkgrel-scheme leftover from some earlier session, no corresponding source dir survived). Followed the standard local-install workflow: fresh git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/icu72.git /data/INSTALL/icu72, ran scripts/update_pgp_key_dir.sh first (PKGBUILD has validpgpkeys, same Craig Cornelius ICU-release key as icu73/icu77 – already current, no change), then scripts/repo_release.sh /data/INSTALL/icu72.
• 2026-10-11: first build+publish, clean first try, x86_64 only (upstream’s own arch=(x86_64), not something we chose – no local edits, upstream pkgver/pkgrel 72.1-2 used as-is). check() (make -k check) passed with no issues.
• Added to arch/scripts/install_only_packages.
