Not one of ours – local-install, not maintained (2026-09-19)

icu77 already exists on AUR, maintained by hinanoaira (submitted 2026-02, currently 77.1-3) – we are NOT the maintainer. Does not fit the [[icu74]]/[[icu75]]/[[icu76]] “we own this shim package” pattern.

User wanted it built for archlinuxaba anyway, adapted for i486/i686/pentium4 (upstream only ships arch=(x86_64)). Followed the documented local-install workflow (see auto-memory feedback_local_install_rebuilds.md): fresh git clone https://aur.archlinux.org/icu77.git /data/INSTALL/icu77 (found a stale existing checkout there first – backed it up to -old, cloned fresh rather than reuse, deleted -old after publish succeeded), edited arch=(x86_64) -> arch=(x86_64 i486 i686 pentium4), pkgrel 3 -> 3.1 (X.Y scheme for local edits, since we don’t own the upstream pkgrel sequence). Registered as local-install/icu77 in arch/scripts/install_only_packages.

Built and published clean for all 4 archs (+ debug variants) via repo_release.sh /data/INSTALL/icu77 (passthrough mode, no arch/ staging since this isn’t a git-submoduled arch/ package). Upstream’s PKGBUILD is a single-line arch=() so it doesn’t hit the multi-line parsing gotcha noted in icu74’s memory. Upstream also does its own validpgpkeys verification (ICU Release Robot key, D46C5610D06E7001) and gets LICENSE from inside the source tarball itself rather than a separate download – doesn’t have the moving-main-branch LICENSE bug icu74/75/76 had.

Local edits do not survive a future re-clone (per the local-install workflow doc) – if this needs rebuilding again after a version bump, re-apply the arch=() expansion and X.Y pkgrel by hand, or note the divergence again here.
